Shanghai - Economy, Business & Society

Program Overview

There is no mistaking Shanghai's skyline. From the soaring Oriental Pearl Tower to the sweeping Bund across the Huangpu River, Shanghai shimmers with possibility. We invite you to experience first-hand all that this exciting city has to offer.

Shanghai is an economic and cultural hub of more than 18 million people. You will have the opportunity to learn and communicate in Mandarin, while being exposed to the local Shanghai dialect—just one example of the many unique languages and cultures that exist in different regions throughout the country.

Visit www.IESabroad.org for complete program details.

Why Shanghai?

A thoroughly modern city risen from a fishing village less than 100 years ago, Shanghai has been heavily influenced by Western business, culture, and architecture. If you're searching for a rapidly changing, dynamic city to in which to study, Shanghai is your destination. Learn the impact of such rapid modernization on local customs and the environment. Practice your Chinese with some of the over 26 million citizens calling this—the largest and most developed city in China—home.

Student Life

We strive to make sure you feel safe, cared for, and at home while you’re away from home. Whether it’s the orientation program that makes you feel prepared, your housing that is well-located and comfortable, the cultural events that make it easy and fun to meet other international and local students, or the field trips and walking tours that take you to places tourists don’t usually see—we’re all about our student service. Learn more about the day-to-day studying abroad on this program. From field trips to housing, it’s all on IES Abroad’s website.

Scholarships & Aid
